Shefali Chandra

Assistant Professor of History and Women's Studies
Assistant Professor Shefali Chandra specialises in the history of South Asia, the history of women, gender and sexuality, and the cultural politics of language and gender. She is currently completing a manuscript entitled Domesticating English, in which she studies the intersection between the history of Indian English and the constitution of gender. Her teaching interests include courses on South Asian and Indian history, explorations of postcolonial feminist historical agendas, and an understanding of gender in trans-national perspective. Professor Chandra received her doctorate in 2003 from the University of Pennsylvania.
