Professor Love specializes in Brazil, the history of Latin American economies, and economic ideas. His current research focuses on the history of economic development and economic theory in Latin America. Selected publications include Rio Grande do Sul and Brasilian Regionalism (Stanford University Press, 1971); Sao Paulo and the Brazilian Federation (Stanford University Press, 1980); and Crafting the Third World: Theorizing Underdevelopment in Rumania and Brazil (Stanford University Press, 1996). Professor Love received his doctorate from Columbia University in 1967.
