Blair Kling

Professor of Emeritus of History
Professor Kling specializes in modern South Asian business and entrepreneurial history; industrialization, and urban history. His current research focuses on business, labor, and society in twentieth-century India and a case study of the steel city of Jamshedpur. Selected publications include The Blue Mutiny: The Indigo Disturbances in Bengal 1859-1862 (University of Pennsylvania Press, 1966) and Partner in Empire: Dwarkanath Tagore and the Age of Enterprise in Eastern India (University of California Press, 1976). Professor Kling received his doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania in 1960.
