Harry Liebersohn

Harry Liebersohn will be a Visiting Scholar at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science from May 19 to June 27, 2008.
He will be researching the relationship between observing and theorizing gift-giving in the work of Marcel Mauss, whose essay The Gift (1925) is one of the most original and influential works of twentieth-century social theory. Liebersohn's stay at the MPI will be under the auspices of the research project on the "History of Scientific Observation" led by Professor Lorraine Daston, one of the Institute directors.
